1023 (read ten-twenty-three) is a six-member a cappella group from Singapore. Prior to its formal constitution as 1023, five of its members were volunteers involved in the filming and recording of a medley of National Day songs for Singapore’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2015. The group officially came together in its current configuration as 1023 in October 2015, and performed at the opening ceremony of the 8th ASEAN Para Games held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. 1023 adopts a wide range of performance styles, spanning various genres, eras, and languages. The group has also released several videos, including a medley of Singapore’s national day songs, popular Christmas carol Deck the Halls, and a Mother’s Day video tribute featuring a mash-up of Ibu and 世上只有妈妈好. In her illustrious 18 year career, she has performed with the likes of The Count Basie Orchestra, Ernie Watts, Gregory Porter, David Foster, Incognito, The Platters' Bobby Soul, William Close & Earth Harp Collective and opened for Laura Fygi & Benny Golson. She has sung for A-listers like Kevin Spacey, Ethan Hawke, Joss Stone, Kurt Elling, Lea Salonga, Paloma Picasso, Serena Williams as well as Presidents & Prime Ministers. Alemay is known for her sultry tone, powerhouse vocals and an onstage presence that keeps the audience eating out of the palm of her hand. Equally comfortable in musical genres ranging from jazz ballads to pumping Funk&Soul, Beverly Morata never fails to mesmerise with her powerful vocal stylings and stage presence. She had wowed the crowd in festivals such as the Sunrise Jazz Festival in Kuala Lumpur, MOSAIC music festival and the Singapore International Jazz Festival. She was one of the top 12 Finalists in the first Singapore Idol. Beverly was also active in musicals, being a part of the ensemble cast in Chang & Eng and played the role of Tzietel in Fiddler on the Roof.
Singaporean singer-songwriter Dawn Wong has just released the first original contemporary Mandarin jazz album of its kind in her home city. Pushing her own creative boundaries, Wong took on the roles of producer, writer, artist and maker, for her latest project ‘Marco Lopo’. Tinged with childlike wonder and whimsy, the album was launched with a concert presented by Singapore’s landmark arts centre - the Esplanade - as part of Huayi Chinese Festival of the Arts’ in::music series 2016. In 2007, Wong began her musical journey proper on television singing competition Project Superstar 2, and went on to impress renowned musicians such as Sandee Chan on Taiwan’s Super Idol 5 singing competition. Over the years, Wong developed a name for herself in local circles, earning invitations to perform at the inaugural Spring Wave E-Le Music Awards by Radio Station UFM1003 and Taiwan international music festival Spring Scream, among others. She also developed a taste for jazz, working with and learning from some of Singapore’s most well-regarded names.
Since 2007, Dominic hasn't stopped wowing his listeners as one of Singapore's few pop saxophonists. While he'll gladly oblige your Kenny G requests, Dominic has developed his own unique tonal and melodic stylings inspired by smooth jazz artistes such as Dave Koz, Eric Marienthal and Jeff Kashiwa, all the while maintaining his versatility in jazz, Latin, English Top 40 and Mandarin pop. Other than being a saxophonist, Dominic's experience as a songwriter and arranger adds depth to his playing, enabling him to create the right atmosphere for just about any occasion. Along with his ability to sing and harmonize on the fly, Dominic continues to to be an invaluable addition to any musical outfit he is a part of. Dominic is a frequent flyer at Esplanade and has been consistently asked back to perform at least once a year, every year since 2008. Dominic has also had extensive experience playing at corporate events and weddings, and has held numerous residencies at F&B venues like Acid Bar, Fish & Co Glass House, Balaclava and Fumeé. More recently, Dominic did a show at the Esplanade Recital Studio with long-time bandmates Singapore Char Siew Baos! and 吴佳明 (the local Xinyao pioneer who wrote 小人物的心声), and has been exploring his inner rocker with yet another band named after food, The Blackberries! Fabian graduated from Berklee College of Music and has since established himself as an educator. He has also attained a Masters in Education (Music Specialization) from Nanyang Technological University. Fabian also has Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education; and a ABRSM Grade 8 (Distinction) for alto saxophone. An alumnus of the SAF Music and Drama Company, Fabian is an in-demand saxophonist in the music scene in Singapore. Recently, he shared the stage to accompany Kit Chan in her Spellbound Concert, and opened for jazz-funk band, Incognito, at the O2, in London. He also performed at the Java Jazz and SingJazz festivals, and was a featured soloist at the Batam Jazz Festival, in Dwiki Dharmawan’s and Nita Aartsen’s bands. He has worked with the late Iskandar Ismail, Dick Lee, Jeremy Monteiro, Sandy Lam, Rani Singam, Elaine Chan, J.J.Lin, A-Mei, Soda Green, Wan Fang, Chyi Yu, Jimmy Ye, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and countless of who’s who in the local and international music scene. Fabian’s saxophone was also heard during National Day Parades and in the local theatre scene, such as the recent Facing Goya, Dim Sum Dollies: Singapore History Part 1, Santa Claus the Musical, Broadway Beng: Jiak Liu Lian and many others. Now living in Singapore, she has performed in Marina Bay Sands, Fullerton Hotel, Fairmont Hotel, Shangri La Hotel, Tanglin Club, Esplanade Theatre at private and corporate events all over Asia as well as live concerts accompanied by the finest musicians in the industry. Toured 7 Cities in China for the launch of BMW series as a performing artists for 3 consecutive years. She also sang for international celebrities like David Foster, Serena Williams and Lewis Hamilton, local and foreign Government Officials and Dignitaries. And recently sang with the President of the Philippines on his visit to Singapore to a 6,000 audience held at Zepp Bigbox. Key Elements is a group of jazz-loving singers who are passionate about a cappella music and want to spread their love for music far and wide. While their roots are in jazz and pop, they are not afraid to challenge and push themselves to explore new things, and in the process traverse those musical boundaries. Formed in early 2001, the Singaporean group has held eight full-length concerts locally between 2005 and 2015, all of which were sold out. Apart from their own concerts, Key Elements has performed many times in local a cappella festivals and also supported various programmes held at the city-state’s most prestigious arts venue, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. After being inspired by a one-month stint in New York, Meryl left her job in finance and banking to pursue her dreams as a vocalist and music creative. An alumnus of the Bright Young Things Jazz Programme by Esplanade's Mosaic Music Festival and Singapore Idol, Meryl has performed on regional stages, as well as for government officials. Besides live performances, Meryl has also lent her voice to Voice-Overs, Jingles, and even the theme songs of the Asian Youth Olympic Games.
The versatility of Miin stems from her experience singing with the Singapore Symphony Chorus, and later on with the NUS Jazz Band, before taking the step into the live music scene, performing alongside the best of the industry's musicians. Miin's sweet disposition and charming stage presence impresses audiences as she articulates genre varieties of swing jazz, bossa nova and pop ballads.
Aged 38, Rob is a globally renowned vocalist & host, born in London UK. Currently residing in Singapore, he is lead vocalist at the Axis Lounge Mandarin Oriental Hotel and MC at The Royal Albatross RWS, as well as an MC and performer for hire for public and private events. Rob is also well known as being the 5 year resident performer and host at Bellini Room St James Powerstation, as well as being lead singer and host for over 2 years with the 1-Rochester Group at the worlds highest al fresco bar, 1-Altitude and the East Coast outlet 1-Twentysix. Rob sings many styles and specialises in Jazz and Swing standards as well as Pop, Rock and Roll, Blues, Soul and Motown. Rob is also well known for his hosting and entertaining style. Rob has been featured in or on numerous papers and television channels including The Sun National Newspaper (UK), Sky Television (Global), Stomp, Razor TV, 8 Days, IS Magazine, Tattler, Lin He Zao Bao, Straits Times and Electric New Paper (Singapore). With Rob as resident singer, Bellini Room has been credited with Singapore Tattler's Best Clubs Award in both 2009 and 2010.
